Guide to Vienna International Airport (VIE)
Transportation to and from the airport

Mozart’s hometown, Vienna, is served by Vienna International Airport, located 18 km southeast of the city centre. The airport facilities are continually being modernized and expanded, with a new office park due for completion in October 2004.

Terminals and check-in
There are two terminals, both of which are located in the same building.

A wide range of business and entertainment facilities is provided across both terminals.

Airport facilities
The airport offers several cafés, snack bars, restaurants and bars. There are also a variety of shops, including duty-free shops.

There is a 24-hour medical centre located next to the domestic gates in terminal 1. The pharmacy is located in the shopping arcade next to terminal 1 and car park 3 (open daily from 06:00 to 18:00).

There is a post office in the departures hall between terminals 1 and 2.

Business and meetings
The Airport VIP & Business Centre can arrange press conferences and other events, with facilities including optional catering, photocopying and telex services (tel: +43 (0) 1 7007 23300). Five executive lounges are available in the Grand Danube Lounge with workspaces, telephone, modem, fax and message services, as well as a meeting room.

Next to the arrivals halls is the Vienna Airport World Trade Center (tel: +43 (0) 1 7007 36000), which provides office rental, as well as superb facilities for meetings, functions and conferences for up to 300 delegates. Interpretation and secretarial services are also available. The Astron Hotel & Convention Center Vienna Airport, located near the terminals, also has conference facilities (tel: +43 (0) 1 701 510).

Shopping and Money
The airport offers a full array of shopping outlets, ranging from souvenir shops to duty-free shops.

Full service banks can be found in both the arrivals and departures halls and are open from 08:00 to 15:00 every day, except Thursday when the hours are extended to 17:30.

Several ATMs can be found in the terminal areas and bureaux de change are available throughout the airport.

Disability assistance
Disabled toilets, lifts, telephones and Internet connections accessible to wheelchairs are available and the airport can also provide wheelchairs. Car parks 1, 3 and C have spaces dedicated to drivers with special needs and the terminals are easily reached from these spaces.

Information
Information desks are located in the terminal 2 arrivals hall and in the east pier. A 24-hour telephone information service is also provided (tel: +43 (0) 1 7007 22233).

Vienna International Airport transportation

By taxi
Taxis to the city depart from outside the arrivals hall. Though taxis are metered, a fixed price can be paid at the booking counter.

By car
The airport can easily be reached from the city centre by following the A4 Airport Motorway. The exit to the airport is marked Flughafen (airport) and goes directly to the terminal. An alternative route is the B9 road.

By rail
The S-Bahn (over-ground rail) takes 25 minutes from the airport to Wien Mitte and Wien Nord railway stations. This service operates at least every 30 minutes from 05:00 to 22:30. It also provides connections to the Vienna U-Bahn (underground rail) system.

By bus
Buses depart from the airport to the City Air Terminal every 20 to 30 minutes, between 05:30 and 01:00. Further bus services run to Südbahnhof and Westbahnhof railway stations once an hour between 05:30 and 23:10. Buses to Budapest and Bratislava are also available.

Parking
Several car parks offer a choice of indoor or outdoor, short- or long-term parking.
Clearly signposted paths connect the car parks to the airport terminals. K1, K2 and K3 are the short-term options. Three multi-storey car parks are also available (car-parks 1, 3 and 4) and further spaces are available in parking lot C.
