Guide to Singapore Changi International Airport (SIN)

Singapore Changi Airport is a modern comfortable
and generally satisfying airport. Located 20kms east of Singapore
city, it handles flights from all over South East Asia and is a
major transit destination for Austrailia and the Pacific Rim. The
airport terminals are quite intriguing in design with wide open
spaces, waterfalls and plenty of greenery.
Terminals
and check-in
There are two large terminals. The terminals at Changi serve a large
number of major airlines offering both long-haul and short-haul
flights. The terminals are connected by skytrain but walking from
one terminal to the other is quite a pleasant.
Airport
facilities
The airport provides first class facilites. There are coffee bars
and refreshment outlets. Food and beverage at this airport are of
an especially high standard. The transit area is particularly appealing.
There is a transit hotel and there are shower facilities provided
(for a small fee).
Business
and meetings
There is a business centre in the transit hotels in each terminal
(tel: +65 6542 5538 for Terminal 1 and +65 6542 8122 for Terminal
2). Full secretarial services are also provided for and there are
internet facilities in the transit areas.
Shopping
and money
There are numerous ATM machines and bureaux de change. The duty
free section is well worth a visit. It is Located in the transit
hall and travellers can relax while viewing a very extensive range
of tax free shopping.
Information
Information desks are located all over the airport. Help telephones
offering free information are also available across the terminals.

Singapore Changi Airport Transportation
By taxi
There a taxis waiting outside of the arrivals hall. The airport-authorised
taxis have a tendency to be quite expensive. A journey into town
takes about 25 minutes.
By car
For the airport take the East Coast Parkway toll road which leads
straight to the centre of Singapore.
By bus
Catch a bus from the basements of Terminals 1 and 2. Buses run all
day until midnight and then from 06:00 the following morning. The
charge is a standard rate wherever the destination.
Parking
The airport offers three car parks A,B and C. Parking areas are
well sign-posted and situated close to terminal buildings.
