One of the major gateways into Ireland is Shannon
International Airport, located 24 km from Limerick.
Terminals
and check-in
There is only one terminal at the airport.
Airport
facilities
A good selection of bars and restaurants are available. Full-meals
are served between 07:00-18:00 on the first level. A bar is located
in the same area, and serves hot food outside these hours. There
is another bar in the departures lounge, open 24-hours a day.
Postboxes are located in the Check-in
Concourse and Arrivals hall. A left luggage service is provided
upon request, from the Airport Operations Office – they can
also assist with lost property (Tel: +353 61 712 408). Further facilities
include two nurseries located in the Departures Lounge and Arrivals
Concourse.
Business
and meetings
The departures lounge on the first floor provides two airline lounges.
The Gold Circle lounge may be used by Aer Lingus Gold Circle members,
and the Rineanna Suite is accessible to business and first-class
passengers of other airlines.
Internet access available at an outlet
positioned between the check-in and the Arrivals Hall.
Shopping
and money
Shannon is the birthplace of duty-free and has excellent shopping
facilities. A wide range of products may be purchased in the Departures
Lounge, with savings of up to 50% off downtown prices. There are
also Irish gift shops and a convenience store. A foodstore is located
in the Check-in and Arrivals Halls.
A bureau de change may be found in
the Check-in Concourse, Departures Lounge and Customs Hall, while
full banking facilites are available in the Arrivals Concourse.
ATMs are located in the Check-in Concourse, Departures Lounge and
Arrivals Hall.
Disability
assistance
The airport has lifts, specially adapted payphones, toilets and
ramps to facilitate those with mobility difficulties. Clearly indicated
areas are provided to pick-up and set-down disabled travellers in
front of the terminal.

Concourse.

By taxi
Taxis are available 24-hours a day from the taxi desk in the Arrivals
Hall (Tel: (+353 61 471 538).
By car
To reach the airport by car from Limerick, take the N18 road and
follow signs for Ennis and Galway. At Bunratty Castle and Folk Park,
follow the junction for Shannon Airport and bear left on the N19.
By rail
Once in Limerick city, trains connect with other towns and cities
in Ireland, Intercity trains providing efficient connection to regional
capitals. Travellers should contact Iarnroid Eireann for further
information(Tel: +353 61 315 555).
By bus
Coaches are provided by Bus Eireann (Tel: +353 61 313 333). The
Bus Eireann desk is located in the Arrivals Hall and is open between
08:00-16:00 (Tel: +353 61 474 311).
Parking
Both short-term and long-term car parking are available. Payment
is made at machines situated at the exit to the arrivals terminal
building and public car park. Both cash and credit cards are accepted.
Carparks operate 24-hours and special rates are provided for frequent
users.
