Guide to Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU)

North Carolina’s up and coming airport
currently handles 12 million passengers a year providing both domestic
and international flights to both the urban areas of Raleigh and
Durham.
Terminals
and Check-In
The airport has two terminals; A and C. The larger Terminal A serves
destinations worldwide while Terminal C is for domestic services.
There is a free shuttle bus connecting the terminals.
Airport
and check-In
Both terminals provide a range of shopping outlets, including gift
shops, newsagents and clothing retailers. There are fast food outlets,
coffee shops and restaurants. There is also a meditation centre
located in Terminal A.
Business
and meetings
Internet access is available in both terminals. Meeting rooms are
also available (tel: Travelex +1 919 840 0366). Terminal C is also
has a designated area with photocopying, faxing and general business
facilities.
Shopping
and money
There is a small duty free section and there are ATMs and bureaux
de change located at Terminal 1 and at gate C16 in Terminal 2.
Disability
assistance
Facilities in the airport are good for the mobility impaired. Car
parks and toilets are fully accessible to disabled travellers. TDD
telephones are located around both terminals.

Raleigh-Durham International Airport Transportation
By taxi
There is an efficient metered taxi service that operates from outside
the terminal buildings.
By car
The I-40 southbound goes to Raleigh taking about 25 minutes. Head
northbound on the same interstate highway to get to Durham, then
take the 540 north until Highway 70, which leads into the city.
By train
There is a sevice that runs to both destinations but it is not regular.
By bus
This service is regular, running every half an hour. Buses can be
caught from outside baggage claim areas in both terminals. Other
shuttle and limousine services provide services from the airport.
They are licensed but not endorsed by the Airport Authority.
Parking
Car parking facilities are adequate. There is a daily/hourly car-parking
rate and four park and ride lots. Complementary shuttles ferry people
to and from each of the airport’s par- and-ride facilities
every 15 minutes from 05:00 am to 01:00, or last flight.
