Guide to Osaka Kansai International Airport
(KIX)
Built on reclaimed land, Kansai International
Airport is located 50 km south of downtown Osaka. This airport services
a wide range of destinations, both domestic and international, with
72 cities and 32 countries total.
Terminals
and check-in
There is only one terminal in the airport, but it is housed in a
huge building with an extensive array of services.

facilities
There 35 restaurants available in the airport, with 21 Japanese
food restaurants, including those specialising in sushi and Japanese
noodles. Additionally, there are 26 coffee shops and several bars
available, many offering small food items.
Medical facilities are provided by the airport clinic. There is
also a dental clinic, located on the third floor of the Aeroplaza
shopping mall, across the street from the airport. A post office
is available at the airport.
Business
and meetings
A conference room and business centre are located on the fourth
floor of the terminal. Facilities include telephone, fax and Internet
access, as well as PC rental, secretarial and catering services.
Shopping
and money
There are over 100 types of shops in the airport, providing everything
from Japanese handicrafts, souvenirs, gifts, medicines and duty-free
items. Those that have a longer layover should visit the Aeroplaza
shopping mall.
A bank is located on the second floor
of the terminal, while ATMs and bureaux de change facilities are
available on almost every floor.
Disability
assistance
There are lifts servicing all the floors and disabled toilets facilitate
those with special needs. Passengers are advised to inform their
airline of any special requirements.

There are information desks conveniently located on each floor of

counters located on the first floor.

Osaka Kansai International
Airport transportation
Two sea ferry routes are in operation
from Kobe Port Island and Awaji Island. A shuttle bus service, leaving
every 7 to 10 minutes, links the ferry and airport terminal. The
journey takes 6 to 8 minutes.
By taxi
Taxis are on hand outside the passenger terminal. However, taxis
are only recommended for nearby destinations, as they can be very
expensive.
By car
If you are leaving the airport by car, follow the road from the
artificial island on which the airport is located to the toll-gate
controlled bridge. This links to an expressway that serves all directions.
By rail
There is an executive train service to Osaka Namba station that
takes 30 minutes. Connections to local destinations, such as Kobe
and Kyoto, can be made from there. Travellers are advised to reserve
tickets in advance (tel: +81 (0) 724 566 282).
By bus
There are shuttle buses that serve all major hotels and public transport
buses that service nearby destinations.
Parking
Parking is provided in two multi-storey car parks that have direct
access to the passenger terminal. Two open-air car parks are also
available.
