Guide to Orlando International Airport (MCO)

Orlando International Airport is a busy central
hub for traffic coming in and out of the state of Florida. It is
also one of America’s busiest airports largely due to Disney
world and other family attractions in the area. Much of the air
traffic is domestic and the airport sees 80,000 travellers through
its terminals every day.
Terminals
and check-In
There are five terminals, four of them serving the main domestic
flights only. These are Terminals 1, 2, 3, 4 and the Main Terminal.
Airport
facilities
The airport has all the facilities that would be expected of an
airport this size. In fact there are over twenty restaurants, a
hotel, bars and even a micro-brewery. Shoppers are not short of
ideas with the usual range of airport retailers along with a Walt
Disney, Universal Studios, and Sea World stores. There is also a
postal service available.
Business
and meetings
There are a number of business services available including fax,
photocopying and internet facilities.
Shopping
and money
There are a number of shops available to those looking for tax free
goods, including shops specialising in locally made products. The
airport provides a number of ATM machines and there is a small number
of bureaux de change.
Disability
assistance
The airport meets all criteria when it comes to travellers with
special needs. Wheelchair access is good with few mobility thresholds,
and shuttle buses can provide comfortable travel for those with
disabilities. TDD telephones are also found in the main terminal
buildings.
Information
There are no shortage of information desks with friendly multilingual
staff. Desks are open 07:00 to 21:00.

Orlando International Airport Transportation
By taxi
Taxi’s are located on ground level both sides of the terminals
exits. Shuttle vans are also available. All taxi’s are licensed
and have meters running. Buses from Orlando International Airport
are available on Level 1 on the A side of the terminal. Buses depart
every 30-60 minutes daily to the Pine St. bus terminal in downtown
Orlando. The trip will take you approximately 40 minutes.
By car
Join the State Road 408 east to get to the airport. Turn off at
the State Road 436 Semoran Boulevard and follow airport signs. A
journey to the airport or back should take about 35 minutes.
By bus
There is a regular service that can be caught from the ground level
on the A side of the main terminal which terminates 40 minutes later
at Orlando’s main bus station. The service from the airport
is every half an hour.
Parking
The airport has sufficient parking with short and long term parking
provided. The terminal car park is within short walking distance
however other parking is up-to a mile away from the main terminal
building. A free shuttle bus service departs on a regular basis.
