Guide to Melbourne International Airport
(MEL)
Melbourne Airport is one of the many international
airports servicing Australia. The airport is located 22 km northwest
of Melbourne and is easily accessible by public transport.

and check-in
The airport has two main terminals: international and domestic.
Airport
facilities
An ample selection of cafés and restaurants is available
throughout the airport. The Garden City Food Court caters for all
tastes, from spicy Asian to Italian. The GST Free Zone provides
limited refreshment options, including a Cafe Espresso and various
vending machines.
Business
and meetings
Business and conference facilities are provided by VIP rooms on
the arrivals level of the international terminal. A fully serviced
business centre, with meeting and conference facilities, is provided
by the Hilton Melbourne Airport. They can be reached via pedestrian
access from both domestic and international terminals (tel: +61
(0) 3 8336 2000 for bookings).
Shopping
and money
Shopping includes duty-free and numerous regular retail outlets.
Shops are located on the departures level of the international terminal,
with 20 specialty stores to choose from. Shops are open seven days
a week and offer extended trading hours.
Several banks are located in the airport.
Four bureaux de change are also provided in the international terminal
and ATMs are located in the area between the check-in counters and
SkyPlaza on the departures level.
Disability
assistance
Wheelchair-accessible toilets, travelators and lifts are available
throughout the terminal. Wheelchairs are available on request and
travellers are advised to contact their airline in advance for assistance.
Information
The airport has two information desks located in the arrivals and
departures halls. They are open during flight operation hours. The
travellers information service desk located in the international

transportation
By taxi
Taxis are found on the ground floor level of the terminal. Journeys
to downtown Melbourne take about 30 minutes.
By car
To reach the airport from the city centre, take the CityLink toll
road, which becomes the Tullamarine Freeway and leads to the airport.
CityLink toll passes can be obtained from machines positioned near
the car park ticket machines on the ground and second floors of
the airport's covered walkways.
By bus
The SkyBus runs 24 hours a day (tel: +61 (0) 3 9335 2811). The service
operates every 30 minutes and stops at hotels and various points
throughout the city centre.
Parking
Long- and short-term car parks are located close to the passenger
terminals. Short-term parking is located immediately opposite the
passenger terminal, while a new multi-storey car park offers covered
parking with direct access to the terminal via covered walkways.
