Transportation to and from the airport


One of the larger regional airports in Britain, Manchester International Airport is a gateway for North England with the world.

Terminals and check-in
There are three terminals in the airport, with the Skylink moving-walkway connecting Terminals 1, 2 and 3 via the airport railway station.

Airport facilities
There is an excellent choice of restaurants and cafés around the airport, with many providing 24-hour service. Bar des Voyageurs is open from first to last flight, with further refreshments available at the Blues Bar and the Virgin Sun Cafe. Other outlets include Starbucks Coffee, O'Brien's Sandwich Bar, Deli de France, Café Europa, Burger King and the West Pier Bar.

Postal facilities are provided in the arrivals hall of Terminal 1.

Business and meetings
Business travellers will find the Business Centre located in Terminal 3, providing a wide range of professional business support services, including private workstations with telephone, fax, photocopying and full computing facilities, meeting room hire, message taking, a flight information and booking service, and video conferencing. Opening hours are 07:00-17:00 Monday-Friday. The airport also provides conference facilities (tel: +44 (0)161 489 6182), with catering for up to 400 people available upon request. The Premier Lounge - Escape (tel: +44 (0)161 489 3388) in Terminal 2 offers passengers the opportunity to relax and enjoy a variety of business facilities.

Shopping and money
Airside, passengers on international flights have a wide selection of duty-free goods. Landside there is also a variety of gift shops and other stores. Boots provide an excellent range of pharmaceutical and personal care goods while, other outlets include Salisbury's, Claire's accessories, Allsports, Monsoon Accessorize, Sunglass Hut, Thorntons and WH Smith.

ATMs, bureaux de change and banking facilities are available across the airport, many branches of Thomas Cook and Travelex allowing you to exchange money into most currencies.

Disability assistance
Those with disabilities are well served, with accessible toilets provided, as well as hearing loops and telephones accessible to wheelchair users. There is also a TDD payphone available in Terminal 1 International Arrivals. Those who need special assistance should advise their airline in advance of arrival.

Information
Information desks are located in the Arrivals areas of Terminals 1, 2 and 3, with another desk positioned in Terminal 1, Departures Hall, open daily from 05:00-22:00.

Manchester International Airport transportation

By taxi
Taxi ranks are located outside the Arrivals Hall of each terminal.

By car
The airport is located off junction 5 of the M56 motorway, with directions for all terminals clearly signposted on approach roads to the airport.

By rail
Trains run every day, with the exception of Christmas Day and Boxing Day, from most stations in northern England and the Midlands. A regular service runs between the airport and Manchester Piccadilly Station in the city centre which has connections to most major destinations.

By bus
The airport bus station is located outside Terminal 1 International Arrivals, and provides direct services to many local centres, as well as connections to other towns and cities.

National coach networks also operate from the airport and serve various destinations around the country. Services include National Express and Yorkshire Traction.

Parking
Both short- and long-term parking facilities (Tel: +44 (0) 161 489 3723) are located near to terminals 1, 2 and 3, while long-term parking is recommended if staying more than 6 hours. A frequent courtesy shuttle bus runs from the long-term car parks to all terminals. CPS Chauffeured Parking Services provides a chauffeured parking service (tel: +44 (0)1883 340 089).
