Guide to Kuala Lumpur International Airport
(KUL)
The brand new Kuala Lumpur airport was constructed
to compete with the other Asian hubs of Bangkok, Hong Kong and Singapore.
The airport is located in Sepang, where the famous F1 racing track
is located, about 55 km south of Kuala Lumpur.
Terminals
and check-in
There is only one terminal, which is comprised of the main terminal
building, contact pier and satellite. The Aerotrain connects the
contact pier and the satellite every three to five minutes with
journeys lasting three minutes.
Airport
facilities
Restaurants, snack bars, fast food outlets and cafés catering
for all tastes are available. Both western fast-food outlets and
restaurants offering a diverse selection of Asian foods are available.
There is a post office located on
the departures level in the main terminal. It is open from 08:30
to 17:00 (closed on Sunday).
Nursery/baby changing facilities are
found throughout the airport and a 24-hour clinic is available in
the arrivals concourse. An emergency sick bay is found in the satellite.
Pharmacies are located in the main terminal and in the satellite.
Left luggage services are positioned
on the public concourse on both the departures and arrivals levels,
with coin-operated lockers also available in the satellite. A worldwide
baggage delivery service can be arranged from counter J42 on the
departures level of the main terminal building.
Business
and meetings
The Plaza Business Centre is situated on the mezzanine floor in
the satellite (tel: + 60 (0) 3 8787 2323). Facilities include fax
machines and Internet access, as well as postal and secretarial
services.
Shopping
and money
A wide variety of shops are available, including duty-free, international
luxury brands, electronics and bookstores, mostly in the satellite,
but with a decent selection also on level 5 in departures lounge
and level 3 in arrivals hall.
A bank is located on the ground floor
of block C in the short-term car park near the bus station. Bureaux
de change and ATMs can be found on both the departures and arrivals
levels in the main terminal building, in the satellite and in the
arrivals hall.
Disability
assistance
Facilities for disabled travellers include ramps, lifts, wheelchair-accessible
toilets and adapted telephones. Passengers should notify their airline
of their needs in advance to arrange any special assistance. Special
car parking spaces are located on level 2 in the covered short-term
car park, close to the link bridges that connect to the terminal.
Information
An airport information and tourist information counter is located
in the arrivals hall in the satellite in front of the Aerotrain
station. Another help desk is found in the contact pier near one
of the escalators leading to the immigration hall. A visitors service
centre is also available and offers information on airport services,
while tourist information is located in the baggage reclaim hall.

Airport transportation
By taxi
Taxis are located on the arrivals level. Passengers are advised
to buy a coupon at taxi counters on the arrivals level and to avoid
illegal taxi operators. The trip into central Kuala Lumpur can take
up to one hour depending on traffic.
By car
The airport can easily reached by car from Kuala Lumpur. Simply
follow the north-south Central Link Expressway (ELITE).
By rail
KLA Ekspres is an express rail service that runs directly between
the airport and KL City Air Terminal (KLCAT), situated at Kuala
Lumpur's central station. It runs every 15 minutes between 05:00
and 01:00, with journey times taking 28 minutes. Tickets may be
purchased at vending machines, at ticket counters at the airport
or upon arrival in KLCAT. Taxis are available at KLCAT.
By bus
The bus station is located on the ground floor of block C in the
covered car park. Buses to Kuala Lumpur and local buses to Nilai
KTM Komuter station are provided. Tickets for the express Kuala
Lumpur service can be purchased at the ticket counters in the arrivals
hall and also at the bus station from 06:30 to 23:30.
Parking
Short-term parking is provided in blocks B and C of the covered
short-term car park. The building links to the main terminal building
and the Pan Pacific Hotel at level 2.
