Guide to Johannesburg International Airport (JNB)
Johannesburg International Airport is South Africa’s
chief gateway, receiving over 11 million travellers a year. It is
a main transit location for much of Southern Africa.
Terminals
and check-In
There are six terminals all under one large roof. Terminals 1 and
2 are for overseas destinations. Terminals 3 and 4 offer purely
domestic flights while Terminal 5 and 6 offer domestic and international
departure areas respectively. There is a free bus service that inter
connects the terminals.
Airport
facilities
There is a wide choice of shopping and good choice of eating establishments
catering for all budgets. There is also a post office located between
terminals 2 and 3. Porter services are available on request (look
for staff wearing blue uniforms and displaying ACSA authorised badges).
Business
and meetings
There are extensive business and secretarial services available
and a ten-room conference centre. This is to be found in Terminal
3.
Shopping
and money
ABSA and Nedbank both have branches here. Currency exchange and
ATMs are well provided. There is also a surprisingly extensive range
of duty free shopping here as well.
Disability
assistance
Wheelchair access is easy. Lifts have Braille symbols and there
are special parking facilities available. A sticker should be displayed
if parking in a reserved area. Those without the appropriate pass

Information
Information desks are located in all terminals. The South African
Tourism Board and Info Africa have kiosks in Terminal 2.

Johannesburg International Airport Transportation
By taxi
Taxi and minibus services are available outside the arrivals halls.
A journey should take no more than 45 minutes.
By car
Follow the M2 or R24 west after the airport exit and follow signs
for the city which is about 12 miles away. To get to Pretoria head
for the R21 North.
By bus
For information on ground transportation services there is a desk
in the arrivals hall. Private coach companies offer services to
Johannesburg and surrounding districts. The majority of hotels also
provide transit services but arrangements should be made in advance.
Parking
Airport car parks are close to the main terminal buildings but a
shuttle bus service does run. There is underground, multi-storey
and ground level parking.
