Guide to Hamburg International Airport (HAM)
This airport is a busy hub serving much of Europe.
It provides flights to over 70 flight destinations worldwide and
it has four large terminals with various amenities.
Terminals
and check-In
Terminal 1 is for domestic and some international destinations.
Terminals 2 and 3 are for both domestic and international services
but Terminal 4 serves long haul only. A free shuttle connects the
terminals and car parks.
Airport
facilities
There are a number of bars and restaurants, delicatessens and patisseries.
Shoppers are well catered for with the usual assortment of airport
shopping. There are also a few speciality goods stores. The airport
also has a post office.
Business
and meetings
The airport office provides business travellers with photocopying
and other secretarial services. The office is located between 3
and 4. Internet services are available in the departures lounge
of Terminal 4. The Hanseatic Conference Centre provides extensive
business services and is located in Terminal 4. Courier services
are also available.
Shopping and money
ATMs, bureaux de change and banks are all available. The usual duty
free shopping is on offer.
Disability
assistance
Facilities are good but disabled travellers are requested to contact
the information desk for any special needs (tel: +49 (0) 40 5075
0). Wheelchair access is provided and there are special washroom
facilities.
Information
Desks are to be found in Terminals 1 and 4. Between Terminals 3
and 4, the airport office also provides information.

Hamburg International Airport Transportation
By taxi
All taxi’s are registered and have meters. It takes 30 minutes
into Hamburg and cabs can be found outside Terminal 1 and 4.
By car
The airport is well signposted from the A7 motorway that heads northbound
from the city.
By train
The airport has an underground shuttle (The Line 110 Airport Express),
which stops at the Ohlsdorf underground station. Terminals 1 and
4 both have pick-up points for the shuttle.
By bus
There is a regular service provided by the airport that stops at
Terminals 1 and 4. The journey into town takes 30 minutes.
Parking
Both short and long-term parking are available. The airport has
a complicated parking fee system that is determined by the car park
used and length of stay. Complementary shuttle buses run to all
terminal buildings from the more distant of the airport’s
seven car parks. These services run approximately every 10 minutes.
