Guide to Frankfurt International Airport (FRA)
Europe’s premiert airport, both in terms
of size and traffic, is a major transit destination for travel to
all four corners of the globe. It is busy and chaotic but does offer
excellent transit facilities for the weary traveller.
Terminal
and check-In
There are two terminals that are connected by the complementary
Frankfurt Skyline. There is also an inter-terminal shuttle that
is also free and runs when needed.
Airport
facilities
Each terminal has a large assortment of shopping. There is an airport
casino, hairdressers and also a drycleaners. Apost office located
in Terminal 1 departures hall (open from 07:00 to 21:00) and also
in transit area B. There is also a self-service post office in terminal
2 at the check-in hall. Sheraton operates a hotel at Frankfurt airport
and there are also art galleries in both terminals.
Business
and meetings
Fax and internet services and credit card phones are all available.
Shopping
and money
It is easy to find a bureau de change with 16 outlets in all. There
are also seven domestic and international banks operating out of
the airport. With an airport of this size there is also extensive
duty free shopping available.
Disability
assistance
The airport has good all round facilities with specially designed
washrooms, automated doors and wheelchair ramps. Also a paid porter
service may be pre-arranged (contact +49 69 690 66666). There is
parking available for disabled persons in the P31 parking garage,
from where the departures hall can be easily reached by wheelchair
ramps.
Information
Most major tour operators have counters at the airport and information
booths are located in both terminals. There are also touch-screen
information points throughout the airport.

Frankfurt Airport Transportation
By taxi
Taxi’s are expensive but are the most efficient way of getting
into Frankfurt. The taxi pick up points are located next to the
bus station outside both terminals.
By car
The airport is situated close to the B43 autobahn. The main highways
A3 and A5 also run past the airport entrance.
By rail
The airport is well served by rail and has a regional and a long
distance service. Tracks 1 to 3, and tracks 4-7 respectively.
By bus
The bus station is found in front of Terminal 1. It provides a speedy
and regular service into Frankfurt. Travel times can be found on
displayed information boards throughout the station. Terminal 2
has a curbside bus area from where you can catch buses into the
city.
Parking
The main car park is to be found north of Terminal 2. It has good
disabled parking arrangements as well as underground long term parking
bays.
