Guide to Faro International Airport (FAO)
Faro airport is the modern and colourful gateway
to the Algarve, only 7 km from Faro.
Terminals
and check-in
The airport has only one terminal, which caters for all domestic,
international and intercontinental flights.
Airport
facilities
There is a wide selection of food outlets at the airport, ranging
from local delicacies to international cuisine. There is a post
office located right inside the terminal. And there are 15 travel
agencies that have outlets in the airport and can aid with any further
travel plans.
Business
and meetings
Conference facilities, with video and television screens, for up-to
65 people are available at the airport but need to be booked in
advance. Contact the airport manager for further information on
business facilities, informing him of your individual needs (fax:
(0) 289 818 802).
Shopping
and money
A wide array of shopping outlets are available at the airport, ranging
from local handicrafts, delicatessen goods, clothing, electronics,
duty-free and several stores offering music, press and books.
A bureaux de change and bank can be
found right inside the terminal.
Disability
assistance
Those who require special assistance or wheelchairs, should notify
their airline when booking their flight. Specially fitted toilets,
ramps and lifts are located across the airport. As for car parking,
designated areas are available in the car park opposite the terminal.
Information
An information service is provided at the meeting point in the terminal
building and further information is available at an ICEP desk, which
provides cultural and tourist information.

Faro International Airport
transportation
By taxi
Taxis are located outside the terminal building and run to central
Faro and other locations along the coast.
By car
To reach the airport from Faro, follow the EN 125 until you reach
the airport junction. From here, you will find the arrivals and
departures clearly signposted.
By bus
Buses depart from outside the terminal building, a number of which
travel from the airport to central Faro. Check the timetable posted
at the information desk near the meeting point for the details.
A daily shuttle service is also available
between the airport and the city centre. It is provided by Aerobus
from 1 June to 31 October. Note that this bus doesn't run on Tuesdays.
Contact the airport in advance to ensure that the Aerobus is in
service.
Parking
Car parks 1 and 3 are situated opposite the terminal and car parks
2 and 4 are positioned behind car park 1.
