Guide to Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW)
Since the opening of the new terminal both facilities
and airport traffic flow have improved considerably at this busy
airport which is located 20 miles southwest of Detroit.
Terminal
and check-In
The airport has three terminals. The new McNamara Terminal provides
flights for most international destinations between its three concourses:
A, B, C. An overhead tram connects the concourses as does an underground
tunnel. The Berry Terminal provides charter flights only. The smaller
L.C Terminal is for all other flights.
Airport
facilities
The newest terminal has the most selection of refreshment outlets
and there is a tequila themed restaurant worth checking out in the
Smith Terminal. A post-box is located in the McNamara Terminal and
there are also shower services. Luggage carts can be found throughout
the terminal costing $2.
Business
and meetings
Extensive conference facilities are provided in The Westlin Hotel
and in the Detroit Airport Marriott Hotel.
Money
There are bureaux de change services in all but the L.C Terminal
while ATM services are available in all.
Disability
assistance
Assistance is well provided for and wheelchair access is good. There
is also adequate parking. AMPCO parking services is recommend (tel:
+1 800 642 1978 for advance booking), to receive full instructions.
Shuttle vehicles that accommodate wheelchairs are available to transfer
passengers from the economy car parks to the terminal buildings.
Information
There are a number of information desks available. All customer
service staff wear green jackets.

Detroit Metropolitan Airport Transportation
By taxi
Taxi services are available outside all exits. Mini-vans are available
on request and all taxis are metered. A journey into the city takes
about half an hour.
By car
You can get to the airport from either of the two interstate highways.
From the I-94 Middleman/Merriman Road take exit 198 turning into
Rogell Drive. From the I-275 Eureka
Road turn off at exit 15.
By bus
Take the no 285 from the Smith Terminal into downtown Detroit and
other areas. You'll need to take two buses to get into town. The
new terminal does not have a ground transportation area so travellers
should take the free shuttle bus to the Smith Terminal.
Parking
Short-term, long term and disabled parking are all provided for
close to the airport, with easy access of terminals. The car parks
and terminals are connected by a free shuttle service.
