Guide to Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD)
Known as one of the world’s busiest airports,
ORD was recently nominated ‘Best Airport in North America’
by international travellers. It handles its traffic well and facilities
for travellers are excellent.
Terminals
and check-in
O'Hare has four terminals with a further one currently under construction.
The complementary Airport Transit System (ATS) provides an efficient
transfer to and from terminals. Though one terminal is named The
International Terminal all terminals offer international flights.
Airport
facilities
There is a food court providing a wide range of food styles on offer
including Asian and French. There are also many other restaurants
and bars around the airport. For postage there is a post box located
in concourse D. There are a number of shopping outlets including
a golf shop, a leather goods store and sunglasses shop.
Shopping and money
Bureaux de Change are located throughout the airport while ATM’s
can be found in the ticket area. There is a large area for duty
free shopping.
Disability
assistance
TDD phones are available for the disabled and wheelchairs are well
provided for. Disabled parking is available for badge holders. The
airport also meets international aviation standards for wheel chair
mobility.

There are information desks in both terminals and representatives
are also on hand to help.

Chicago O'Hare International Airport Transportation
By taxi
Taxi cabs and shared taxi-vans are available at the lower level
front doors. Metered rates apply to all destinations and service
is provided any time of day or night.
By car
By car take the Airport Expressway from the I-465 loop.
By rail
The Chicago Transit Authority's (CTA) Blue Line service runs between
the airport and downtown Chicago. The station is located on the
lowest level of the main parking garage and can be accessed from
Terminals 1, 2 or 3 on via pedestrian tunnels. A large map near
the entrance provides all routes and service times.
By bus
On the ground floor of the parking garage is a bus/shuttle pick
up area. It can be reached from Terminals 1, 2 and 3 on foot. Shuttles
generally leave the airport every 5-10 minutes.
Parking
The airport offers hourly, daily and valet parking between Terminals
1, 2 and 3. The International Terminal has its own parking. Long
term parking is to be found off Bessie Coleman Drive and Zemke Road.
Free shuttles are available to the airport.
