Guide to Cape Town International Airport
(CPT)
Cape Town International Airport has earned the
title of 'Africa's Leading Airport', with its cutting-edge design,
clean and efficient interior and extensive facilities. It is located
20 km east of Cape Town's city centre on the N2 highway. The airport
serves both international as well as regional routes, handling over
four million passengers a year.
Terminals
and check-in
There are both international and domestic terminals.
Airport
facilities
A range of facilties — from shopping to restaurants —
are available at both the international and domestic terminals.
Baggage storage and a post office are located at the main landside
entrance to the domestic arrivals terminal. Mobile phone rental
is offered in the domestic and international arrivals halls, as
well as the domestic departures hall.
An airport surgery is also available
and is found at the northern end of the international arrivals terminal
(tel: + 27 21 934 2246).
Business
and meetings
Business facilities are available in the first class lounge situated
in the departures terminals and a VIP facility is also available
beside the domestic departures terminal A (tel: +27 21 937 1200).
There is a conference centre and an airport training centre located
away from the terminals. Call the VIP Centre for reservations and
enquiries (tel: +27 21 937 1233) .
Shopping
and money
Access to money is easy, with both international and domestic terminals
offering banks and bureaux de change. In the international arrivals
hall there are also banking facilities. ATMs are found in both the
domestic arrivals and departure halls.
Shops and refreshments are available
in the domestic and international departure halls. The international
departures hall also provides duty-free shopping (after security)
and a shop specialising in wine. A VAT refund service is also available.
Disability assistance
The airport is entirely accessible, with good facilities for those
with special needs.

transportation
By taxi
Touch Down Taxis is an official airport taxi company that will transport
passengers to downtown Cape Town.
By car
By car from Cape Town, take the N2 highway and follow the airport
signage. The trip distance is 23 km and takes roughly 30 minutes.
By Bus
Shuttle services may be reserved from the arrivals terminals. Shuttles
transport passengers to their destination on demand and schedules
are dependent on flight arrival times.
Parking
Shaded parking is available along the entire facade of the terminal
buildings and shuttles are provided to transfer passengers to their
terminal. Shuttles are arranged by communication links provided
in one of ten pick-up points. Further parking information is available
