Transportation to and from the airport


Brussels airport is a major European aviation hub, located just 13 km northeast of the city centre.

Terminals and check-in
This airport has only one terminal that deals with all flights, but has facilities distributed across two piers, A and B.

Airport facilities
Bars and restaurants are available throughout the airport. Bars serve Belgian and international beers, with a wine and tapas bar available near the boarding gate on pier A. Other dining options include Italian Trattoria, Seafood Island and nearly 20 other restaurants including Pizza Hut and other fast food outlets.

The post office is located in the arrivals hall and is open from 08:00-19:00 Monday-Friday.

Medical facilities are also available at the airport.

Business and meetings
Faxing facilities and data ports for laptops are located around the terminal. Mobile phone rental is provided by Locaphone in the arrivals hall.

The Skyport Corporate Meeting Centre, situated on the mezzanine level of the fourth floor, provides 10 small meeting rooms and secretarial services (Tel: (0)2 714 0200). The Airport Forum (Tel: (0) 2 714 0770), located in the arrivals hall, offers telecommunications facilities as well as secretarial and business services. 3C in the Satellite and the upper floor of the Gallery of Light have PCs ready for use, as does 3C in the arrivals hall.

Shopping and money
An ample array of shops including duty-free are located in the terminal. Pier A shops include Bally, Coronel Tapiocca (a travel accessories shop), bookstores, souvenir shops, chocolate shops and gourmet food outlets. Pier B shops include jewelry, clothing, electronics goods stores and many other outlets.

Bureaux de change offices are located throughout the terminal, while ATMs are located in the arrivals hall and promenade.

Disability assistance
Toilets accessible to disabled travellers are provided in the airport. There are lifts between floors and wheelchairs are available on request.

Tourist information and a travel agent are located in the arrivals hall.

Brussels Airport transportation

By taxi
Metered taxis leave from outside the arrivals hall. Licensed cabs have a yellow and blue emblem.

By car
It is easy to reach the airport by car. Take the the Brussels Inner and Outer Ring Road (follow signs for Airport or Zaventem).

By rail
Rail access is conveniently located on Level 1 below the terminal. The Airport City Express trains depart every 15 minutes for Brussels' three principle stations: Gare Centrale, Gare du Nord and Gare du Midi. The trip takes 15 to 20 minutes. Direct trains also serve Gent in the northwest, De Panne on the northern coast and Quievrain/Quevy to the southwest.

By bus
Express buses provided by MIVB/STIB connect the airport to NATO, the European Commission area and the city centre in under 30 minutes. Buses run from 05:00 to 23:00 and leave every 20 minutes between 07:00 and 21:00, and every 30 minutes outside of these hours.

De Lijn buses operate every 45 minutes between the airport and downtown Brussels. With many suburban stops, the journey takes 40 minutes.

Other European cities are served by scheduled coaches that leave from the bus station on level 0 below the arrivals hall. Destinations include Antwerp, Eindhoven, Liege and Valenciennes.

Parking
Parking is provided at two short-term and two long-term car parks. Lock Park is situated beside the terminal and Car Hotel provides a shuttle service every 10 minutes to its car park (Tel: (0)2 753 0110). Spaces at the Car Hotel should be reserved 48 hours prior to arrival.
