Guide to Berlin-Tegel International Airport (TXL)

Infamous during WWII as the location of the Berlin
Airlift, Tegel Airport is now a major hub for international and
domestic flights. Located just 8 kms northwest of the city centre,
it is well serviced by public transportation.
Terminals
and check-in
One terminal services all scheduled and charter flights.
Airport
facilities
Two snack bars, a bistro and a restaurant are located on the third
floor. There is also the Take-off Restaurant and Miller’s
Bar.
Further services include a post office
and 24-hour first aid.
Business
and meetings
Fax and photocopying services are available in the VIP lounges and
in the airport service centre. For conference facilities, look for
the centre on the third floor.
Shopping
and money
There are many shops available throughout the airport, including
Market Place, an Esprit Store and The Beauty Port.
The airport provides banking and bureau
de change facilities, open 06:00-22:00. ATMs are located in the
Departure Ring at gates 4,10/11 and 15 and in the “Reisemarkt”
of the Bank.
Disability
assistance
Many facilities for disabled travellers are provided, including
ramped access, toilets at gates 1, 15, 16, 68 and wheelchair-accessible
telephones in the Departures building. Car-parking spaces for the
disabled can be found on the lower level.

Berlin-Tegel International Airport transportation
By taxi
Taxis are available outside the terminal 24-hours a day.
By car
The airport can easily reached by car, as it is linked to the Berlin
city motorway, the A100, and the A111 north. All roads are well
sign-posted.
By rail
and bus
An airport bus operates to underground stations Kurt-Schumacher-Platz,
connecting to central Friedrichstrasse, or the X9 service to Jakob-Kaiser-Platz
on the southwest U7 line (journey time: 8 minutes) with a connection
to Charlottenburg.
For overground trains, take the 109
or the X9 past Jakob-Kaiser-Platz to Station Zoo (west Berlin's
central station), or the 128 service to the north of the city. A
jet express airport shuttle serves central Berlin including the
Reichstag and Unter den Linden (trip length: 20-30 minutes).
Parking
Car parks are located beneath and around the terminal; P1, P2 and
P5 are for long-term parking, while PK is for short-term parking.
