Guide to Berlin Schoenefeld International Airport (SXF)

Berlin Schoenefeld is one of the three airports
that services Berlin. Since the re-unification, Berlin is enjoying
a renaissance as the hub of Germany and gateway into Europe.
Terminals
and check-in
There are three terminals at the airport: A, B and C. The widest
range of facilities is available in Terminal A.
Airport
facilities
There is a multitude of restaurants and bars at the airport, some
located in the shopping centre on the ground floor in both Terminal
A and B (opening hours: daily 04:00-22:00). Bars include the Mövenpick
Bars of Terminal A and B, the Meeting Point on the ground floor,
the Cockpit in the middle of the first floor and the Transitbar
on the first floor transit area.
Baby-changing tables are present in Terminal A, on the ground floor
to the left of the transit area, with keys available from airport
staff. A children's playground with toys and video films is always
open and free of charge for all young passengers - located on the
first floor of Terminal A, in the transit area. Further facilities
include a first aid station available in building C 007, across
from Terminal B. The facility operates 24- hours.
There is a post office is located
on the right side of terminal A's ground floor (open Mon-Fri from
09:00-17:00, Sat 09:00–13:00). A mailbox is located in the
right-hand area of terminal A's ground floor. A lost and found facility
operated by GlobeGround can be found in the middle of the ground
floor of terminal A. There is a baggage storage service available
and luggage lockers are located at Multi Parking Garage P4.
Travel agencies are located in terminal
A, and some are also available in terminals B and C. There is a
vending machine located in the corridor between Terminal A and B
that provides beverages, snacks and passport photos.
Business
and meetings
Business travellers will find conference facilities provided in
The Hugo-Junkers-Lounge, located on the second floor of Terminal
B. Lounges also provide some relaxation for business travellers
with a lounge available on the second floor of terminal A (opening
hours: daily 06:00-21:00).
Shopping
and money
Duty-free shopping is available in the transit area of Terminal
1, on the first floor, as well as on the ground floor of Terminal
C's transit area. The opening hours are dependent on flight schedules.
There is also a shopping centre at the airport, with shops providing
drinks, food for the journey, sweets, tobacco, photo-goods, pharmaceutical
products, newspapers, flowers, toys and sunglasses. The centre is
located on the ground floors of both Terminals A and B (opening
hours: daily 04:00-22:00).
Berliner Bank has a branch on the
central ground floor of the terminal. A Money Exchange office is
located on the right of Terminal A's ground floor. ATMs are available
in the terminal, Berliner Bank providing a machine in the centre
of Terminal A's ground floor, and Deutsche Bank offering a machine
in the same area.
Disability
assistance
All of the service facilities at the airport are ‘handicapped-accessible’,
with specially adapted washrooms and telephones. Those with hearing
difficulties may use the TDD phones, available in the terminal.
Special needs will be tended to by the passenger's respective airline.
Information
Information is available at the Information Desk in Terminal A.
Staff are multi-lingual and will deal with queries about the airport
and region.

By taxi
Metered taxis are available outside each of the terminals.
By car
The airport is located about a half-hour drive from the city centre,
and is well sign-posted and can easily be reached by car.
By rail
By train via the Airport Express, from the Berlin-Zoologischer Garten
station, the airport is just 31 minutes away. Large information
posters and appropriate pictograms in the main halls of the larger
Berlin stations will direct you to the right train, with special
waiting areas provided for the Airport Express.
By bus
A frequent bus service operates from outside each of the terminals
to downtown Berlin. Two lines serve the centre of Berlin from the
airport.
Parking
The airport parking facilities are distributed across a number of
car parks. Short-term parking is available in front of terminal
A and in short-term parking P3. Long-term parking, on the other
hand, is provided in P1/2, P3a, P5, P6, P8, P11 and the multi- parking
garage (P4).
